چکیده
Abstract A multi-scale flash temperature model has been developed and validated against existing work. The core strength of the proposed is that it can be adapted to predict contact temperatures occurring in various types sliding systems. In this paper, used investigate how different surface roughness parameters affect temperatures. results show for decreasing Hurst exponents as well increasing values high-frequency cut-off, maximum increases. It was also shown effect does not influence average interface temperature. predictions were data from an experiment conducted a pin-on-disc machine. This showed importance including wear when simulating development system.

Nano-Scale Effect in Adhesive Friction of Sliding Rough Surfaces
Study of contact and friction at multiple length scales is necessary for the effective design and analysis of surfaces in sliding microand nano-electromechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS). As loading forces decrease in such applications, the size of the asperity contacts tends to decrease into the nano scale regime. Also with the increase in surface area to volume ratio in such systems, the surface f...
متن کاملElectromagnetic scattering from multi-scale rough surfaces
It is shown that the wavelet correlation dimension is a very relevant quantity for the characterization of rough surfaces by remote sensing means. First, the concept of correlation length is generalized to surfaces with wide power spectrum. Second, it is demonstrated that, in the framework of the small-perturbation theory, the wavelet correlation dimension can be retrieved from a knowledge of t...
متن کاملSliding lubricated anisotropic rough surfaces.
The object of this paper is to study the effects of lubricant film flow, pressurized and sheared between two parallel rough surfaces in sliding motion. The influence of microscopic surface roughness on lubricant film flow macroscopic behavior is described through five nondimensional parameters called flow factors. These macroscopic transport parameters are related to the local geometry of apert...
متن کاملSliding contact between freeform surfaces
This paper deals with the sliding-contact constraint equations describing the relative motion of two freeform surfaces, assuming that the surfaces can have arbitrary curvature in 3D space. The sliding-contact equations are developed either for the non-penetration condition and for the surface-tangency condition. Both are differentiated twice in time in order to allow a straightforward applicati...
متن کاملContact mechanics for randomly rough surfaces
When two solids are squeezed together they will in general not make atomic contact everywhere within the nominal (or apparent) contact area. This fact has huge practical implications and must be considered in many technological applications. In this paper I briefly review the basic theories of contact mechanics. I consider in detail a recently developed contact mechanics theory. I derive bounda...
